Marcelete Blackwell Elter
Who
are you?
“I
am a descended from German, Scot,
English and American Indian heritage
(Seneca & Cherokee) in upstate New
York and the “ridge runners”
of Pennsylvania. My storied
inspirations, visual and literary, are
derived from my proud and strong
ancestry.”
Artist Statement:
Communicating
the spiritual message in art is
connecting with the Divine.
Creating is nourishment to my
own soul, which when it is successful,
also transforms the viewer or
listener.
We
are able to share this divine message
and mystery.
|
Artwork
is of mixed media, which includes an
atypical mix of acrylics, pencil, paper,
beads, gold leaf, oils and found
”story” objects. Subject matter is
primarily nature, portraiture in
multi-cultural expressions, and always has
the hoped-for spiritual transformation for
the observer.

Storytelling
is also a medium of art, that can be
expressed in the written word.
As
in “Singing the Moon Into the Sky”
which is published with Trafford
Publishing. It is also available at
major book stores, Amazon.com or directly
through the author.
This
novel is a genealogical mystery about a
multi-cultural family living around the
Fort Ancient, Ohio area, covering six
generations from the times of Tecumseh to
the present day. These early river runners
struggled to create a new life and family
in “free” Ohio, without losing their
unique identities. Today’s generations
try to understand who they are and
why the spirits of their past keep
reappearing.
